More September 2025

LOL, as usual, I am catching up on the blog entries!

September 14- Food run and Lunch Ride, hooked up the trailer and went and got food and household items and then we headed out to lunch.

September 15- A beautiful day for a RIDE! We headed out the Pikes Peak Greenway to the Cottonwood Creek Trail, heading up to Cottonwood Regional Park. As always, it's a nice ride, especially on a "weekday", much less traffic on the trail. We found out a local church has opened a Coffee and Cafe shop right on the trail just before Union Blvd! We'd already eaten lunch, so we decided to stop by and check it out on the way back!

Lots of different coffee's, teas and sandwiches and pastries too! So if your ever on the Cottonwood Creek Trail in Colorado Springs, CO. stop in and support them!

September 18- Riding the IMPROVED Cheyenne Blvd Bike Lane up to the Starsmoor Visitor & Nature Center at the foot of North Cheyenne Canyon Park- It had been a while since we headed out to ride to the Starsmoor Center. The last few rides have been in a very FADED out bike lane and lots of construction work! WOW, now the Cheyenne Blvd Bike Lane is totally repaved and repainted!! There is bike lane all the way to the center and it was made wider and easier to use. They even added a WALKER'S lane up the canyon itself, it makes riding to either the Sacred Grounds Cafe or the Starsmoor Center a LOT more safe!

We wanted to do kinda a picnic lunch and found a great picnic area just south and west of the Starsmoor Center, so we got to eat our brown bag lunch right next to the creek! After that we headed back down and picked up the Tejon St. bike lane and headed back to the apartment, a BIG THANKS to the city of Colorado Springs Streets Dept. for the excellent refurbish of the bike lane!

September 19- Rock Island and Pikes Peak Greenway Fun Ride- Another nice day for a ride so we headed out the Rock Island Trail to it's current ending point at Powers Blvd. out east of town. Headed back and picked up the Pikes Peak Greenway north to add some miles to the ride and stay away from home a bit longer! ;)

September 21- Another Ride to Manitou Springs- Time to head south and west via the "west side" of the PP Greenway through Monument Valley Park, then over the I-25 Ped/Bike Bridge to the Mesa Greenway, back street bike lanes to the Midland Trail! We stopped at the Starbucks on Co. Ave and 31st. St. for lunch and tea. Then we picked up Pikes Peak Ave headed to see if they finished the re-paving of Ridge Rd. into the Garden of the Gods but alas, it was still blocked off, so we rode the back road into Field Park and the Creekwalk Trail in Manitou Springs. We rode the trail to the current end at Mayfield Drive, turned around and headed back.

Stopped at Fields Park for a Nature Break and then continued on the Creekwalk to Midland Trail heading back into Colorado Springs.

Headed back to pick up the Mesa Greenway, over the Ped/Bike Bridge and the "westside" Pikes Peak Greenway back to the apartment, again a nice day for a ride!

September 22- Well, the weather was iffy, lots of gray, thin high clouds so we took a chance and headed up the PP Greenway to do a short loop ride. Turned on to Cottonwood Creek but only up to Academy Blvd, then turned back heading for the PP Greenway south and then east on the Templeton Gap Trail. Picked up the accessway along Union Blvd south and a back street to hook up to the Templeton Gap Road bike lane and then the Rock Island Trail heading west, Shooks Run Trail heading south and stopped at STIR'S Coffee & Cocktails for Iced Tea and snack, then back to the apartment!  The sun didn't show but the temp was mid 70 F and it never rained till several hours after we got back to the apartment!!

Ok, that's all for now folks, oh, you noticed there's no Relive or YouTube Videos, well that's my fault! I made a mistake with my new Lenovo Laptop Computer and made all the videos disappear! RATS!!! LOL, it's hell being a 70-year-old Senior in a modern computer driven world, that's why I like my TRIKE better!! Till we see you next time, "HAPPY TRAIL'S"!

September 12, 2025-Catching up with September!

September 1- Labor Day Ride, we headed out to visit our mother's grave sites, we were on a road trip to Memphis and Clarksville TN. during Mother's Day, so I didn't get a chance to stop by my mom's grave site. Jo's mom's birthday is August 31st. and we usually ride over to the Shrine of Remembrance to her plaque on the Rose Garden Wall. Decided that we'd use the Holiday as a time to honor our mom's!

From the cemetery, we headed back via bike lanes and the Shooks Run Trail to head to the Tasty Freeze Drive Inn for lunch, iced tea and break from the heat of the day!

Headed back to the apartment and put away the trikes, good ride, good lunch and getting to spend a moment with our Mom's, it made a great day to do no LABOR!  ; )

September 3 - Just a food run and lunch ride for Jo and I to Smashburger at the UVC Center

September 10- Baby Blanket Delivery Ride, Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, etc.

We started by heading north to X-Finity Store at UVC Center, then headed back to the apartment to pick up the homemade baby blanket, Jo made for Torrie G. who is the owner of the "Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort"! Delaney, her daughter just had a new baby so we decided to "deliver via TRIKE"!

They weren't there so we left it with the staff, hope she can use it, Jo loves to crochet things as a stress reliver and enjoys giving them away! We headed out on the PP Greenway to the Mesa Greenway, bike lanes and the Midland Trail towards Manitou Springs. It was getting hot, took the Midland Trail back to PP Greenway and home to the apartment!

From the park, over the I-25 Ped/Bike bridge, Mesa Greenway, Fontanero St. Bike Lane to the PP Greenway and over the Popcycle Bridge back to the Apartment!

September 11- On a somber day for the United States of America, we headed out to Angletech for a service appointment for BJ's trike!!

1. New ball joints (tie rod ends) as after 14 years of use, the ICE Sprint 2 Special Editon trike was needed a "front end" overhaul!
2. New Drum Brake, brake shoes!
3. New Big Apple 2.0 tires on the front wheels, the old ones had 6000 miles of wear, time for new ones!

Jo was supposed to get new ball joints too but alas, ICE parts only shipped, 1-Set, RATS!
We have to wait till her set gets shipped in hopefully soon. She also needs a new chain and new Big Apple 2.0 tires added! Yep, just like a car, these are "wear and tear" items but since my trike is 14 years old and Jo's 2009 TRICE T is 16 years old, they lasted a LONG time!

We ended up getting a Hot Dog at a Mavrick Station on Garden of the Gods Rd. while waiting for the new parts and tires to be installed. Then we headed back down Sinton Trail to the PP Greenway, then south on the "westside" of the Greenway which is all concrete to a back street over to the Cascade Ave bike lane into the downtown Starbuck's for snack and tea and then the Pikes Peak Ave and Weber Street bike lanes back to the apartment! Not a long ride but we got in over 10 miles before late afternoon!

Ok, I am finally caught up, no ride on the 12th., we had to do some food shopping, Jo has to be on a Soft Foods diet for 30 days, (ARRUGH) for healing for the dental work she's getting done! Due to her bone medication, she has to take kinda extreme measures for dental bleeding before she gets her new upper and lower partials at the end of 30 days. Till we see or chat again, HAPPY TRAILS".

Sept is here, getting a new computer put me behind so here's the rest of August 2025

August 20- Sinton Trail Detour Ride, we rode up Sinton Trail to see how the Detour due to trail reconstruction was set up. PP Greenway to Sinton Trail up to Chestnut St., then detour right to Darby St. to Holland Park Parkway, turn right and re-pick up the Sinton Trail is the new detour route. It's a bit of a PIA but not too bad. We then rode over to pick up the Foothills Trail down to the Midland Trail back to downtown, then home!

August 21- Dual Camera Test ride and out of town trikers too Ride! Our friends and fellow trike riders, Karen and Jim LeClerc from Indianna were here in Colorado Springs so we all got together for a ride around the town on different trails and bike lanes. It was also the 1st. test of using "dual cameras", 1- handheld GoPro 11 Mini and 1- frame mounted GoPro 6, getting two different views of parts of the ride. Fun time, good lunch! Check it out!!

August 23- PPRRN Meet and Eat Ride. I set up a Pikes Peak Region Recumbent Network Meet and Eat Ride, I decided to lead a ride from Stanley Lake at Monument Valley Park up to the Smashburger at the University Village Colorado Center off of North Nevada Ave. Well no one showed so I headed up to the Smashburger and alas, no one met me there either so I had a great burger and sweet potato fries with tea and then just headed back, enjoying the ride! Maybe next time!

August 28- Riding with trikers from TX and their friends. It's so cool when trikers from other states check out our YouTube Channel: Out and About on the Recumbents and then decided to hook up with us for a ride in the area. We hosted the Martin's from Texas and their friends! Ended up riding Tempelton Gap Trail and then headed to The Good Neighbors Meeting House for a great lunch. Then Shooks Run and some back streets to get to America the Beautiful Park for some photos. As always, it was a great time riding and hanging out with fellow trikers! If your ever in Colorado Springs, we'd be happy to show you around!!

August 31- Errand and Free Lunch Ride.  We did a couple of errands and ended up at Panera Bread, the Martin's gave us a gift card, really sweet people! We had lunch and then headed out for ride here and there, just enjoying the sunshine and warmth in the waning summer months before cooler fall temps!

Well that brings August to a close, I will be back soon with the September Ride, get out and RIDE as the summer is coming to a close as usual, way too fast my friends! Happy Trails!
