June into July, 2025- Jo on the Rock Island Trail

June 27- I had skin cancer surgery, not supposed to RIDE for a week, so Jo got in a solo ride and rode the Rock Island Trail.

June 28- Jo to Manitou Springs on the Midland/Creek Walk Trail

Sadly, still healing from surgery so Jo headed over to Manitou Springs via the Midland and Creek Walk Trails. Jo doesn't shoot videos and sadly took no photos that day!

July 4- The Historic Old Northend Independence Day Parade and then to Old Colorado City for BBQ at Rudy's Smoke House.

We decorated up our trikes and so we could ride in the yearly HONE Independence Day ride. Started by going to Safeway to buy cookies for the kids after the parade then arrived at Boddington Field in Colorado Springs, CO. just before 9AM. All the kids on decorated bikes, scooters, striders, etc. lined up and the official BUGLE call sounded, and we were off!

It's not a long parade, just a few blocks but it gets a real great turn out as folks with strollers and walking dogs join in. Since Jo is a diabetic, we don't stay for the treats and drinks, so we headed off to get to the Midland Trail to take us to 31st. and Hwy. 24 and Rudy's BBQ for ribs and pulled pork with unsweet iced tea YUM! Headed back via the Weber St. bike lane as the dark clouds were rolling in quickly! Fun time and great BBQ, a excellent way to spend "Independence Day"!!

July 6- Food Run and Lunch Ride

Had to head out and get the weekly food and supplies, loaded up the cargo trailer on the trikes and we headed to the Walmart Market off the Rock Island Trail and Union Blvd. We made arrangements with our landlord to use the empty space under the front stairs so we could keep the trikes at the apartment and the cargo trailer is in our front room, LOL! It was great not to have to walk the 1.2 miles pulling a wagon to get on the trikes and GO!!

We did the shopping, headed back to the apartment, put the food up and headed over to Panera Bread for iced tea with our brown bag lunch! Rode up to the Vincent Street Bridge and west on the Cottonwood Creek Trail to the Pikes Peak Greenway south back to the apartment. Got the trikes put away and within 30 minutes, it started pouring rain and didn't stop till 10 PM!!

That's All Folks, till next time, "HAPPY TRAIL'S"!!

June 23, a Cooler Ride to Manitou Springs

Several days before, it was 90F+ so it was really nice to get in a ride where the high temp was only 70 to 75F. Been a little while since we rode to Manitou Springs so we picked up the Pikes Peak Greenway south using the concrete trail on the westside of the Greenway into Monument Valley Park, then over the Ped Bridge over I-25 to the Mesa Springs Greenway, Walnut St bike lane, a back street to the Cuchares Trail to the Midland Trail heading to the westside of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs.

Stopped at the Starbucks at 31st St. and Colorado Ave for iced tea and a brown bag lunch. Headed back to the Midland Trail west, which changes to the Creek Walk Trail when you get into Manitou Springs. Rode the trail to its end at May Fair Dr. Came back on the trail over the little wooden bridge over Fountain Creek and headed back east to the Midland Trail and into Colorado Springs. Bike lanes thru the city, then the Weber St. bike lane to the Tastee Freeze Drive Inn for more iced tea and a Think Bar snack. Shooks Run and Rock Island Connector to Cascade Ave bike lane back to the storage unit. Sunny, mellow temps, a really excellent day for a RIDE!

June 18 and 22, 2025- Sunday Ride, Cottonwood Creek Trail to Cottonwood Creek Park

6/18-We had several errands to run so we decided to make a bit of a ride out of it instead of doing the normal WALK! Mainly using bike lanes so not much to report! Did stop at Stanley Lake in Monument Valley Park for shade and snack break, then use the PP Greenway/Rock Island Connector and the Cascade Ave bike lane to get back to the storage unit!

6/22-We headed out on another HOT day, back in the 90 F temperatures with lots of sunny. We did at least get an early start so it wasn't as hard on us, we went all the way to the Park then turned around and headed back down the CCT to Academy Blvd and a Starbucks for the brown bag and ice green tea!  Otherwise, we rode here and there till it started to get hot and then we headed back to the storage unit and the hot walk home.

It's looking like the rides on the 22nd and 23rd will be my last for a while! I am having Skin Surgery on Wednesday the 25th and according to my instructions, I have to wait "2 WEEKS" before I can exercise, MAJOR BUMMER!! :( Hope you are getting in some great rides, I'll be back!! BJ
