September continued, playing catch up again!!

LOL, yes again, I am behind my time, oh well I will do a photo, video and story to try to catch up so, here we GO!

Sept. 19, we headed out to Manitou Springs to have our brown bag lunch at our favorite picnic spot on the Creek Walk Trail.

Here's a full video!

Sept. 21 We headed up the Rock Island Trail to check if there has been any progress on the new "lighted crosswalk" at the intersection of the Rock Island Trail and Murry Blvd. They do have a bit more underground cabling installed but, not much else. We headed back and stopped at Nancy Lewis Park

Sept. 23, Headed up the Sinton Trail to the Foothills Trail over to the 31st St. bike lane

to the Midland Trail and America, the Beautiful Park, over to Monument Valley Park then picked up the Mesa Springs Greenway to the Pikes Peak Greenway to get to Panera Bread for iced tea and snack.

Sept. 24, We headed up to Angletech, our local recumbent dealer for the AZUB Demo Day, with the Mgt. and staff of AZUB Recumbents from Europe. They came from the big Cycle Con Rally in OH. to ride with the crew at Angletech and see some of Colorado Springs. Had several AZUB trikes and bikes to demo and even a few other brands! We tried out a AZUB, ICE and Catrike recumbent trikes. Here is a video of the EVENT!

Sept. 26, We had a awesome fall day, high of 88 F, sunny and decided to do the Cottonwood Creek Trail. It's a lot less busy on the weekdays, we decided to go to the very end of the concrete trail up to Woodman Ave. and Powers Blvd. The northern part of the trail we don't ride often as it's "very open area", little shade but even though it was quite warm, there is a real difference between a JULY 88 F day and a SEPTEMBER 88 F day! ;) Ended up with over 25 miles! Here is some photos and Relive Video Map:

September 14 & 15, Emergency ride to Angletech and Ride to check the progress of the new crossing/light at RI Trail and Murry Blvd

September 14, we got to the storage unit and headed out for a ride, we discovered that Jo's "left disc brake" was not working at all!! We slowly headed up to our local recumbent shop,  Angletech hoping it was just a simple adjustment needed. Well, it turned out that Kirk had to replace the whole "brake caliper"!! Since we have ICE trikes and Jo has "mirrored" disc brakes there isn't much choice but these replacements by TEKRO but, they just don't seem to hold up well as we've had to have them "bled and adjusted" several times since they were installed! :( At least now, Jo's bike stop's fine. We headed down the Garden of the Gods access path to our favorite McDonalds, as it has a nice, covered patio set up outside!

Got a BOGO double cheese burger and the best price in the summer for a large unsweet iced tea!! Rode to Monument Valley Park, then headed back to the storage area, a short but in the end sweet ride.

September 15, we headed out on the Rock Island Trail heading east. We wanted to check out the progress of the new, crosswalk and light at the RI T & Murry Blvd intersection. Well not a lot of progress, more underground wiring is in place on both sides and the bases for the lights look complete. It will be a really good thing when it's done as it's a very busy and dangerous intersection without a crossing light! Headed back on the RI Trail, then took the Academy Blvd access path to a Mavrick convenience store for unsweet iced tea and our brown bag lunch. Picked up Shooks Run trail heading south to the Pikes Peak Ave bike lane over to the Downtown Starbuck's for more unsweet iced tea and our homemade diabetic trail mix. Use the Cascade Street bike lane to head back to the storage area, got spit on type rain but arrived dry!

Here is a video of the ride!

September 12, 2024: Food Run and Lunch Ride

On the 12th, we needed to get Food and household items at the Union Blvd. Walmart Neighborhood Marketplace. We did our 1.2 mile walk to the storage unit, attached the cargo trailer to my trike and headed to the store, via Cascade St., Rock Island Connector and Trail. Got our food and supplies, headed home put away the items and decided we wanted to ride to have lunch.

Headed north on the Pikes Peak Greenway to path for the University Village Colorado Panera Bread. Had a good Philly steak on ciabatta bread and their excellent Creamy Tomato Soup, we split the sandwich and the soup, YUM. Decided to head out the Nevada Ave Path heading up the Nevada Ave access path up to Vincent Street, then picked up the Cottonwood Creek Trail south and headed back to the Pikes Peak Greenway and then taking a bit of the T-Gap Trail back to the Cascade St. bike lane to the storage unit. A great way to turn a 6-mile ride into an 18-mile ride on a hot and sunny day!

Well time snuck up on me, been whirlwind of rides, meeting new folks, etc!

August 27, We had the privilege of showing 2-Out of State couples and trike riders around some of the trails in our local area. 1, from TX. and 1, from IN. We put together a mix of trails to form loops, on August 27, on the 28th. they both rode the Early Bird Hike and Bike at the Garden of the Gods City Park on the 29th, we took them on a different Loop Trail!

 August 29,

September 1, We headed out on the Rock Island Trail to check on the progress of the new "crossing light" at RIT and Murry Blvd. It's started but not much to look at yet! It's really needed as it's hard to get across Murry Blvd safely!!

September 3, We headed out to pick up the Midland Trail and head to Manitou Springs,

I wanted to do a "Promo" video for the, Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort. It's a great place to stay and ride out of here in Colorado Springs, CO. On the way home we stopped for a shade and snack break at Monument Valley Park and Stanley Lake.

September 7, We headed over to the Starsmoor Nature and Visitor Center in North Cheyenne Canyon Park. Due to road construction on our usual route, we decided to use the bike lane on 8th. Street to Cheyenne Blvd. and up the Canyon Road. Headed back to America the Beautiful Park and then picked up Shooks Run Trail to head back to the storage unit.

September 9, Jo had and appointment so I headed off alone and decided to see if the City had ever improved the "Homestead Trail" on my own. LOL, no I'd say it's worse than the last time I rode it a few years ago! It was a very Rough and Tumble trail ride, check out the Video!

Found a different way back so I didn't have to ride in the "WEEDS" and dirt single track, stopped at a Mavrick Station for lunch and iced tea, headed back to the Rock Island Trail and then to the storage unit.

September 10, after the tough ride on the 9th, we just took a "Kickback" ride here and there on several pieces of different trails! LOL, this old man was just warn out from yesterday's ride on the Homestead Trail!

Stopped to have a "end of the ride" Herbal Berry Iced Tea and snack at the Good Neighbors Meeting House off Shooks Run, headed back to the storage area! That's all for now folks, thanks for checking out the BLOG! :)
